“There is no religion better than love, no color better than the color of happiness and no language better than the language of compassion”
-Abhijit Niskar, Love, God & Neurons: Memoir of a Scientist
I love fusion weddings. It is truly a beautiful thing when two cultures come together and join as one. Melissa and Joe’s wedding was memorable for many reasons. The two cultures coming together was one that will always stand out in my mind. Everyone greeted each other with a welcoming smile and a warm embrace. The love between Melissa and Joe was something else I will never forget. Throughout the night they managed to socialize, party and steal moments away for just themselves.
I got to know Melissa and Joe a year prior to their wedding at their engagement session. They disclosed their shared love of hiking, traveling and the outdoors. They also shared with me that they wanted their wedding to be fun, yet relaxing.
Melissa and Joe exchanged vows at Crabtree’s Kittle House in Chappaqua, New York on May 6th, 2017. The couple’s wish was to be married outside and the rain managed to hold out long enough for this to be possible!
At one point during the party (nonstop dancers attended this wedding!), rain poured down on the window ceilings almost as if the skies were sending good luck vibes (it is good luck to have rain on your wedding, lets not forget this)!
Finally the rain stopped and the S’more party started! Melissa and Joe snuggled up against the fire and enjoyed the company of their guests.
And last but not least… my favorite part. In the Chinese culture it is tradition to release a Chinese lantern as good luck. Melissa and Joe made their first wish as a married couple and watched their hopes and dreams take flight. The guests soon joined in and suspended their own hopes and dreams for the future into the night sky. Everyone in the Westchester area got to see a spectacular sight of illuminated lanterns floating in the sky.
Melissa and Joe were given plenty of signs of good luck and well wishes the day of their wedding. My wish for them is that they are always best friends, and that they always reflect on their Chinese lantern from their wedding night!
