In July I was honored and SO excited to travel to Paris, France to photograph Lisa and Nick’s elegant and intimate destination wedding.
France is very special to Nick and Lisa because Nick spent a few years of his life living in this gorgeous city. Lisa and Nick have traveled together to Paris quite a few times and each memory made in this city made it very special to the two of them. Lisa and Nick spent the early days of their relationship traveling and flying to new locations in Nick’s plane.
From Nick on choosing Paris as their destination wedding location:
I had lived in Paris as a kid and had been back many times, but Lisa hadn’t been further East than London before. We had found cheap tickets months before we had ever gotten engaged and figured we would explore the possibility of a Paris wedding while we were over there. Rediscovering Paris with Lisa was amazing, and we knew immediately this was where we wanted to celebrate our marriage with our closest friends and family.
Lisa and Nick traveled with their closest friends and family to Paris a few days prior to wedding. This gave them the opportunity to create new memories with loved ones. They envisioned a wedding that let Paris be the star of the show and selected a church, restaurant and picture locations that all shared that!
The wedding day started off with Lisa’s family and friends helping her get dolled up in her Delphine Manivet wedding dress. In addition to this very classic and French-inspired dress, Lisa proudly wore her something old, something borrowed and something blue around her neck. Her grandmother’s pearl necklace, which just so happens to have a blue clasp was passed down to Lisa’s mother, who let Lisa borrow them for her wedding!
Lisa and Nick had some very thoughtful gifts for each other! Knowing how much Lisa loves macaroons, Nick sent over a box of delicious lavender macaroons while Lisa sent a pocket watch to be opened by Nick in his hotel room. Wait until you see what is inscribed on the pocket watch!
The ceremony took place in Madeleine Church which a 200 year old church designed as a temple to the Napoleon Army. The aisle was so long and the ceremony SO beautiful!
After the ceremony, we drove around Paris and hit up some special spots that Lisa and Nick selected prior to traveling to Paris. At the end of the night, we met outside on the Point Neuf bridge for sunset photos.
This wedding was such a dream and honor to photograph. Lisa and Nick have become wonderful friends and I wish them nothing but happiness and love for lifetimes to come!
At Laperouse, there is a hundreds of years old tradition of women scratching their diamonds into the glass mirrors to determine if they are real. Our waiter read a story of the history of Laperouse surrounding this tradition and invited, Lisa and Nick to partake in their own slice of history. It was quite fun to watch!
